The main theme of the Architectural Design Studio 8 covers the 1.1 km-long central roads connecting Daejeon Main Station to the old Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Office, which includes the areas of Ginkgo-dong, Daeheung-dong and Seonhwa-dong in Jung-gu. The target site is divided into six different sites and each of which has an area of 5-10 ha. The original city centre of Daejeon has developed with various identity along with the development of the city, and it has changed as a mixed area with commerce, culture and historical context. Despite more than a decade of diverse projects, the area still has an outdated image and faces many problems such as public space, pedestrian environment, old building structures and population escape.

Thus, this design studio works for the existing urban regeneration, apartment redevelop-ment and actively and experimental measures such as new programming, urban space reconstruction, new architectures and so on.
