GESAMTKUNSTWERK

Architecture reflects both scientific developments and different cultural influences of humankind in different places. In addition, buildings in the context of their urban landscape and cultural-historical backgrounds are more than just the sum of their individual parts, they can also redesign their surroundings in their own way. Thus, architecture is a work of art as a whole: it not only affects social, economic and scientific areas but also connects them with an aesthetic diversity. Through a close connection between formal language, tasks and artistic freedom, architecture can be understood as a holistic artistic creative process, from the results of which infinite possibilities for interpretation can be derived.

The KDAA(Korea Deutschland Architektur Assoziation) is a non-profit organization that aims to promote and expand the active exchange between Korean and German architects. This year's KDAA exhibition Architektur als Gesamtkunstwerk (architecture as a total work of art) combines an international exhibition with a lecture series in which twelve representative projects by architects and architecture firms from both countries are presented.

The works go beyond the one-dimensional design aspect and show diverse examples of building projects with their own design language. Sustainable, ecological architectural designs inspired by nature will also be presented, as well as buildings in which the past and the future have been attempted to merge. These buildings not only reflect the city's identity but also expand its horizons. This exhibition is intended to provide a forum for architects from both countries to exchange ideas and develop a future-oriented architectural culture together.
